Stockholm University Library has purchased the content of the Royal Society of Chemistry Gold Collection, cointaining 83 journals (both current and discontinued) and 6 databases. New resources: Aluka databases

Aluka is an online digital library of scholarly resources from and about Africa and a part of JSTOR. The Aluka website includes high-quality scholarly materials ranging from archival documents, periodicals, books, reports, manuscripts, reference works, maps, oral histories, plant specimens, photographs, slides, contextual materials such as excavation reports, manuscripts and maps.
Stockholm University Library has purchased the two collections Aluka - African Cultural Heritage and Aluka - Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa.

New: ICC Dispute Resolution Library

The ICC Dispute Resolution Library is an online service provided by the ICC International Court of Arbitration, containing more than 1000 relevant documents from its established publications on arbitration.

Resources@Asia Portal: JapanKnowledge +N

The two databases Japan Knowledge and Nikkoku Online are since 1 April joined in one interface and can both be accessed under JapanKnowledge + N. Disturbances in the access to Japanese databases due to electricity shortage. Due to electricity saving in Japan following the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear powerstation crisis, there are limitations to the access of some Japanese e-resources. New ProQuest platform replaces CSA Illumina

The CSA Illumina site and the old ProQuest platform have now been combined into a new ProQuest platform which allows searching of any combination of CSA databases and ProQuest databases.

The individual databases can still be searched on the CSA Illumina platform. In a few weeks, however, access to the Illumina platform will cease.

The library has migrated nearly 20 online databases to the new ProQuest platform.

The migrated databases include:

- ERIC
- International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS)

AAAS/Science – Now Beta Testing New Online Article Prototype

AAAS/Science is seeking direct input from its global online community to help rethink the format and functionality of Science’s online research articles.

AAAS/Science rolled out an initial prototype in the 28 January 2011 issue of Science which features a variety of new ideas for online article viewing, including:

* Tabbed interface

* Summary material placing the article in context

* Treatment for figures and supporting online data more visually adapted to the text

Communication Abstracts and Criminal Justice Abstracts now available from EBSCO

Stockholm University Library currently subscribes to Communication Abstracts and Criminal Justice Abstracts on the CSA Illumina platform. EBSCO Publishing have purchased the rights to this product and from July 2011 both databases will only be available on the EBSCO Host platform.

New sociology database (SocINDEX) available on trial

SocINDEX (EBSCO) features more than 2.1 million records and offers comprehensive coverage of sociology, encompassing all sub-disciplines and closely related areas of study.

Stockholm University has a trial until 31 December 2011.

SciFinder New enhancements

CAS has added new features to SciFinder that will improve synthetic chemists and other researchers' productivity by accelerating research queries, providing easy access to lab preparations, and providing synthesis planning capabilities.

The World Bank Launches a New, Open Access, Digital Collection

A new online open access collection of all World Development Reports since 1978 was launched this week by the WorldBank. Complete World Development Report Online, which allows users to easily access and search across these World Bank annual flagship publications, is free and open to the public and may be accessed at http://wdronline.worldbank.org/

New trial: Environmental Impact

Stockholm University Library has a trial to the database "Environmental Impact" between 01/11/2010 - 31/01/2011.

Information about the contents:
Environmental Impact is a comprehensive bibliographic information resource on climate change and other influences of humans on the biosphere. It also covers other aspects of man's damage to the environment such as pollution, deforestation, desertification and habitat loss.
