WBIS is based on the digitization of K. G. Saur's Biographical Archives. It compiles biographical articles from printed reference works published from the 16th to the 21st century, and reproduces these original documents as facsimile images on the screen.

Verkar vara ett lättanvänt biografiskt uppslagsverk, som täcker både svenska och internationella personer.
Anger basfakta och bas källor. Dock inga längre uppsatser- då får man gå vidare. Bra som en första ingång eftersom mna inte sitter på alla biografiska lexikon och de oftast inte finns online.
