Oxford scholarship has added two new collections, Neuroscience and Public health and epidemiology.

The collection Neuroscience contains titles on molecular and cellular, behavioral, developmental, and cognitive neuroscience, disorders of the nervous, sensory, motor, and autonomic systems, as well as on a full range of methods and techniques, behavioral neuroendocrinology, invertebrate neurobiology, and the history of neuroscience.

Through the research database Der literarische Expressionismus Online / German Literary Expressionism Online 151 journals, yearbooks, collections and anthologies from the early 20th century with 2 404 issues are now available in full text. New database: IEL Civil Procedure from Kluwer Law

The Civil Procedure volumes of the International Encyclopaedia of Laws provide descriptions and analysis of numerous domestic systems. Faceted Searching to be added to JSTOR

JSTOR will introduce a new "faceted search" feature in early July. The faceted search will offer a number of different options to expand and refine search results. Faceted searching and search results will allow you to visualize how the returned articles are distributed among categories, or "facets." For instance, with faceted search you can see how many of your results are in each discipline, how many are book reviews or full-length articles, and how many articles contain images, among other options. You'll be able to modify your search results by choosing specific facets, and all search results pages will now incorporate the facets sidebar to make modifications easier.

Ny databas: Svenskt översättarlexikon

I Svenskt översättarlexikon synliggörs svenska översättare med biografier, porträtt och verkförteckningar.
Den nya databasen som forfarande är under uppbyggnad, har utvecklats på Södertörns högskolebibliotek under medverkan av litteraturvetare, språkhistoriker, översättare och kritiker.
Lexikonet utvidgas kontinuerligt med nya artiklar. I första omgången presenteras avlidna svenska och finlandssvenska översättare.

New linguistic tool for authors: SpringerExemplar.com

Springer, in partnership with the Centre for Biomedical and Health Linguistics, has launched the website SpringerExemplar.com. It is a free linguistic tool designed to support the publishing process for authors, editors and the scientific community in general.

The tool allows researchers to see how a particular term or phrase is used in peer-reviewed, published literature. The user searches for a specific term, which retrieves a list of results of where and how the keyword is used in published Springer content. It also displays lists of different categories: the year the article was published, the top subject areas in which the term is used, the highest concentration of articles by country, and the name of the journal where the keyword is used most. By clicking on the keyword itself, the user is linked directly to the journal article where the word is located.

RefWorks launches mobile phone interface

RefWorks launches RefMobile, a new interface that enables students and researchers to use the RefWorks web-based research management service from anywhere, via web-enabled mobile phones, smart phones, and personal data assistants (PDAs).
The RefMobile interface gives users immediate access to the most commonly used RefWorks functions, including searching their entire RefWorks databases, viewing references by folders, adding and removing references from folders, creating new folders, and adding comments to Notes fields. Users can also efficiently import new references to their RefWorks account using the new SmartAdd feature.

Documents and Rare Printed Materials from the Wiener Library, London This digital resource offers the unique resources of the World’s oldest Holocaust museum. Alfred Wiener fled Germany in 1933 and established his collection in London. The collection offers fully searchable personal accounts of life in Nazi Germany, along with photographs, propaganda materials such as school text books, limited circulation publications and rare serials in a uniquely flexible format, enabling detailed research into the domestic policies of Nazi Germany, Jewish life in Germany from 1933 to after the war, propaganda, life in the concentration camps, in hiding, emigration and refugee life.

Integration between SciFinder and ACS platform

Since mid-March the ACS Publications web platform has provided four options, two of which are new, that link from individual articles directly to SciFinder answer sets:

“Get Substances from Article” links allow users to quickly retrieve the substances indexed for the ACS Publications article.
“Get Reactions from Article” links will enable users to quickly retrieve the reactions indexed for the ACS Publications article.
“SciFinder sign-in” link
“View Reference Detail” link

You will be asked to sign in to SciFinder with your username and password. If you don´t have any account please contact ejouren@sub.su.se to get a password to the web based version of SciFinder. Royal Society Publishing: free access to all content until March 31st

The Royal Society of London has launched a new online journal delivery platform hosted by HighWire Press. The platform delivers the Royal Society's science journals, including the longest scientific journal archive, back to 1665.
All content is open to all visitors until March 31.

Test: Orbis (company financials) and Zephyr (M&A)

The library has a trial subscription to two business databases until March 31. Orbis is a global database with both public and private company financials. Zephyr covers merger & acquisition and private equity deals.

Important note: Both databases require a password! Students and researchers at Stockholm University can write to ejouren@sub.su.se to request access. Also, the databases use "pop-ups" so if you have a pop-up blocker you have to deactivate it for the databases to work properly.

New database: Oxford Classical Dictionary

The Oxford Classical Dictionary is the online version of the most recent edition of the printed dictionary. The dictionary covers Greek and Roman history, literature, myth, religion, linguistics, philosophy, law, science, art and archaeology, and topics in near eastern studies and late antiquity.

Välkommen till en demonstration den 3 februari av databasen Early English Books Online (EEBO) som är en ny resurs på biblioteket. EEBO innehåller faksimilupplagor av det stora flertalet böcker tryckta i England, Irland, Skottland, Wales och Brittiska Nordamerika och övriga världen på engelska under perioden 1473-1700. Samlingen innehåller för närvarande 100.000 böcker. Demonstrationen inkluderar även en visning av CSA Illumina.

Test: Keesing's World News Archive

Keesing’s World News Archive is a web-based database with more than 95,000 articles, the first from 1931-87 as Keesing’s Contemporary Archives, and then as Keesing’s Record of World Events from 1987 to the present. Articles are added at the rate of about 150 articles per month, providing a detailed summary of global news. Keesing's was founded in 1931 with the intention of creating a lasting archive of articles on the world's political, social, and economic events. The library has a test period until February 25th.

Authors workshop from Emerald on Feb 9

A representative from the academic publisher Emerald is coming to "Stora Växthuset" in the main library for a presentation on academic publishing. Her presentation will cover

• How to get published in the right journal
• What editors and reviewers are looking for
• ISI rankings of journals
• Key questions that make or break your paper
• How to peer review your own work

The workshop is free for students, researchers or employees of Stockholm University and will take place in "Stora Växthuset" on the entrance floor of the main library. Ebrary gets a new interface

Our largest collection of e-books, Ebrary, has a completely new interface now. One big change is that you can view books without having to download the ebrary reader plug-in. However the plug-in is still needed if you want to highlight text or save your notes within the book. Ebrary has also provided us with this description of new features available in the new interface.

New database: Abbreviations Online

Abbreviations online is a database dealing with medieval Latin and is designed for use in both learning and teaching medieval Latin paleography. Users can look up all the different abbreviations for a given word.

New database: vLex Global

vLex Global is a broad legal database covering 90 countries. The database contains over 20 million documents including case law, government documents, books, journals and more. The database producer is based in Spain and works with publishers and law libraries around the world. Students and researchers can write to ejouren@sub.su.se to ask for the username and password to vLex.

Fr o m vecka v 4 2009 kan användarna av Digitala Kartbiblioteket använda tjänsten utanför universitetet/högskolans nät. Man behöver numera inte gå via en proxy.

Obs! Däremot måste all registrering av nya abonnemang och uppdatering av abonnemang göras när man är inloggad på resp universitetet/högskolas nätverk. För övrigt fungerar tjänsten som tidigare. Leverensen sker via länk i mailet där adressen måste vara en godkänd domänadress som är anmäld till Metria. Varje användare har månadskvot som tidigare."

New database: Oxford Art Online

A new gateway through which users can access Oxford's premier art content.

Oxford Art Online contains Grove Art Online, the Oxford Companion to Western Art, Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms.

Search separately or all four resources at once. Oxford Art Online gives access to more than 23,000 subject entries, 21,000 biographies, 500,000 bibliographic citations, 40,000 image links and 5,000 images contained within Grove Art Online.

New database: Early English Books Online (EEBO)

The library now has access to Early English Books Online.

EEBO contains digital page images of virtually every english language work printed from 1473-1700 - from the first book printed in English by William Caxton, through the age of Spenser and Shakespeare and the tumult of the English Civil War. The collection contains about 100,000 of over 125,000 titles listed in Pollard & Redgrave's Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640) and Wing's Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700) and their revised editions, as well as the Thomason Tracts (1640-1661) collection and the Early English Books Tract Supplement.

New database: International Encyclopaedia for Labour Law and Industrial Relations

The library has access to a new online resource from Kluwer, the International Encyclopaedia for Labour Law and Industrial Relations.

This is online version of the 36 -volume looseleaf publication. It features:
• Country overviews of over 60 countries
• English translations of the important labour and industrial relations laws of over 20 nations
• Covers individual as well as collective labour relations
